Sameer Hasan (also called Sameer) is an Indian actor from Andhra Pradesh who predominantly appears in Telugu films and TV programs.
Sameer was born on 25 February 1973 in Visakhapatnam to a Muslim father Intikhab Hasan and Hindu mother Mahalakshmi. Since his parents went abroad for some time, he stayed with his grandmother in Chennai. He completed his schooling from Kalakshetram in Chennai. He has a sister named Purnima. As a child, he used to take interest in acting, painting and sports. He studied B Com and B B M from Bullayya College in Vizag. He is married to Aparna. They are currently living in Hyderabad. Sameer and Aparna won the finals of Moguds Pellams, a TV program conducted by MAA TV for celebrity couples. Sameer has appeared predominantly in the Telugu language films and serials. He has been acting in TV serials since Doordarshan days. He has a supporting role in RuthuRagalu. 'Ruthuragalu' was the first Telugu serial to go on air on Doordarshan. The serial went on air for more than two years without any break. Following Ruthuragalu he was a part of other famous Mega serials like Kasthuri. Sameer made his film debut in Subha Sankalpam (1995), directed by K Viswanath. He then started acting in supporting actor roles in movies like Indra, Simhadri, Sri RamaDasu, Mass, Sye, Aanasuya, Magadheera, Legend, Sarrainodu, etc. Sameer was one of the contestants on Bigg Boss Telugu season 1. On and off he appears on television and movies.
Some of his other noted mega serials were Santhi Nivasam(ETV) directed by star director SS Rajamouli after which director SS Rajamouli started directing films. Sameer made impactful roles in SS Rajamouli films, Student No.1, Simhadri, Sye, Magadheera. He also appeared in other noted hit movies like Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham, Sarrainodu, Ram Charan’s Orange etc.
