Prabhas : An Actor with Mass Appeal and Versatility in Indian Cinema.

In this video we have interesting updates on Hero Prabhas who has a Pan Indian fame after Bahubali. On 23 October 1979, Prabhas was born to film producer Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju and Siva Kumari in Mogalturu village of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. He is the youngest of the three children, he has a brother, sister, Pragathi. He has been an active child since childhood, participated actively in sports and had immense interest in tasting non- veg items in their house. His father's elder brother is the then Rebel star Hero, Krishnam Raju.

Prabhas' father had already produced four films by the time Prabhas was born with  his uncle Krishnam Raju in the lead role. He did his schooling from DNS school in Bhimavaram. While studying in this school he leant dance and the family members thought that he would become a hero like his uncle. Krishnam Raju brought Prabhas from Bhimavaram to Chennai and admitted him to Don Dosco school. Prabhas while studying 10+ 2, he was attracted by the fan following of Megastar Chiranjeevi and decided to become a hero.

It was only then the Telugu film industry shifted to Hyderabad, Krishnam Raju also shifted his family and brough Prabhas here and admitted him in Chaitanya college for B. Tech. Prabhas completed B. Tech in 1999. After that Prabhas was sent to writer Satyanand to learn acting.

Producer Ashok Kumar was keen on low budget movies and the team approached Surya Narayana Raju, father of Prabhas and Prabhas was called for auditions for a love story, “Eeswar”, that started in December 2001 with the blessings of Prabhas’ uncle Krishnam Raju. The film didn’t get a huge response but crossed a break even share of 65 lakhs and touched 80 lakhs and Prabhas got good response from his uncle Krishnamm Raju’s fan base.

Director Suresh Krishna who completed 25+ films with actors like Chiranjeevi, Rajanikanth prepared his second film “Raghavendra”. Same time, Rajamouli had a script for Prabhas but Prabhas kept him waiting. Raghavendra released in March 2003 was a flop but Rajamouli’s first movie, Student No. 1 with Jr. NTR became a hit.

Director Shobhan picked Prabhas for “Varsham” and considered Hero Gopichand as a villain against Prabhas and this film started its shoot in February 2003. During this film shoot, Rajamouli completed his second film again with Jr. NTR, “Simhadri”. Jr. NTR invited Prabhas for the film’s preview. Prabhas got mesmerised with the movie. Prabhas regretted keeping Rajamouli waiting and immediately met Rajamouli who instead narrated “Chatrapathi” story to Prabhas and Prabhas gave him dates on the spot. As Rajamouli was busy with “Sye” Prabhas completed Varsham, which was his first hit. Then “Adavi Ramudu” with B. Gopal released with an average talk. Philosophy oriented film “Chakram” with director Krishna Vamsi but could not impress the audience. Towards the end of 2004 Rajamouli started “Chatrapathi” shoot with Prabhas. This film was released in September 2005 with a blockbuster talk, making him a complete actor.

He then did Pournami, Yogi, Munna, Bujjigadu, Billa, Ek Niranjan which failed to appeal to the audience. In 2011 “Mr. Perfect” perfectly suited Prabhas. He then did “Rebel” with dancer turned director Lawrance. After half the movie was done, Prabhas was upset with the way the movie was shaping up. He came to the sets fully drunk but the team took care that did not come into the media. Rebel was kept on hold before releasing. It was during this tough time, Rajamouli called Prabhas and narrated the story of “Bahubali” that needed 2-3 years of pre-production and a lot of homework. Prabhas blindly said yes and wanted to work with Rajamouli even if it takes 5 years. Prabhas only asked Rajamuli to take the film in such a way that audiences cannot forget him for the next 10 years.

During the pre-production stage of Bahubali, Prabhas acted in Mirchi, Prabhas was already a trending name with the crazy high Budget Bahubali and Mirchi added to his stardom. On the other hand the scenes in Bahubali kept increasing to 4 hours and Rajamouli decided to release the film in 2 parts, the budget increased from 100 crores to more than 400 crores. The completion of the 2 parts would take more than 5 years. Rajamouli asked Prabhas if he could dedicate 5+ years on this project and Prabhas happily supported Rajamouli. Prabhas didn’t think of any other film until Bahubali was completed.

Bahubali was released worldwide in 2015 on July 10 in 4000 screens and in Telugu alone it released in 1500 screens, in Hindi 1500 screens, Tamil 350, Malayalam 250 screens. It collected more than 650+ crores. This became the first regional film in India to show its worth worldwide and he became a PAN Indian star with Bahubali -2.

Then Saaho was released in August 2019 with high technological advancements and a huge budget, the audience could not connect to the suspense aspect of the film. After this he did a movie in his uncle Krishnam Raju’s home banner “Radhe Shyam” which also could not suit Prabhas in a lover boy role. Right now projects in hand for Prabhas: Adi Purush by Om Raut, KGF director Prashant’s Neel’s “Salaar”, Nag Ashwin’s “Project K”. All these 3 are crazy high budget films and the fans are eagerly waiting for them.
