Chiranjeevi wanted his son to carry his acting legacy but never forced Charan but Chiranjeevi felt that he could influence his brother, nephew and a lot of youngsters to enter the film industry as heroes but could not influence his own son.
Later Aravind and Chiranjeevi asked directors to meet Charan to instigate acting interest in him and he understood the pulse of craze in fans here. While Charan was in B. Com second year he made up his mind to act in films and Chiranjeevi sent him to London to do a course in acting and then to Mumbai. By the time Charan was back Chiranjeevi was already making preparations for his grand launch. Chiranjeevi sent Aravind to Rajamouli but Rajamouli could not plan a film with a debutant hero without knowing his acting skills so they chose director Puri Jagan to direct him in "Chirutha" and famous producer Aswini Dutt was keen on launching Ram Charan in his banner.
The film released towards the end of September 2007 in about 708 screens worldwide, and the film ran for 50 days in 175 centres, 100 days in 40 theatres. Most of the people felt that the film was a decent hit only because of Megastar. People also doubted if Ram Charan would earn stardom in future like his father. Ram Charan faced criticism for his looks and acting skills. Allu Aravind then approached Rajamouli for a remarkable story for Charan. Rajamouli also kept his promise he made to Chiranjeevi that he would direct him for his 2nd film after knowing his skills and worked on a script with his father Vijayendra Prasad on re-birth and called it Magadheera. This film re-wrote the records created by Mahesh Babu's Pokiri. Charan acted in a dual role and improved his acting skills compared to his first film.
Chiranjeevi's brother Nagababu produced Charan's third film, Orange, the concept completely new and the audience could not get connected. Nagababu lost all his money.
